Prepare for varying weather conditions when visiting Sonamarg, as the region experiences dramatic shifts throughout the year. Summer, from May to September, brings pleasant temperatures ranging from 6°C to 15°C. It’s the best time for activities like trekking and camping. However, be ready for sudden rain showers.

Monsoon hits Sonamarg from July to September, making the weather unpredictable and roads slippery.

Autumn, from October to November, showcases breathtaking golden landscapes but also sees temperatures dropping to -4°C to 10°C, so pack accordingly.

If you were carrying your own gear then you can do a self-campaign as well. But I would highly recommend not doing so in the middle of nowhere or without permission. Pitch your tent near an existing campsite and pay them a little to give you a spot.
